Prayer for a Peaceful Sleep

Lord God,
send peaceful sleep
to refresh our tired bodies.
May your help always renew us
and keep us strong in your service.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend our souls and bodies,
beseeching you to keep us this night under your protection
and strengthen us for our service on the morrow,
for Christ's sake. Amen.

I seek protection for my soul
in the Lord of the earth and
the Lord of the heavens.

Prayer for My Child's Independence

Lord help me not to do for my children
what they can do for themselves
Help me not to give them
what they can earn for themselves
Help me not to tell them
what they can look up for themselves.
Help me to help my children stand on
their own two feet and to grow into
responsible, disciplined adults.

Prayer for the Courage to Look Within

May all sentient beings have the courage
to look within themselves
and see the good and bad that exists in all of us.

May we open our hearts,
shining the light of love
into the dark recesses where doubt and fear reside.

May we have the courage
to step into that light
and embrace whatever we find,
letting it rise to the surface

Prayer for the New Year

Grant me the strength from day to day
To bear what burdens come my way.
Grant me throughout this bright New YearMore
to endure and less to fear.
Help me live that I may be
From spite and petty malice free.

Let me not bitterly complain
When cherished hopes of mine prove vain,
Or spoil with deeds of hate and rage

Prayer for Those in Military Service

God of compassion,
we pray for military personnel,
offered for the sake of others,
and separated from family and loved ones.

Care for them; meet their needs.
Grant them courage, compassion, strength,
and all they need for the living of these days.

Sustain them through their every trial.
Remind them of the humanity they share
even with those who are called "the enemy;"
through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.
Amen.
